Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Blind First Date (“we”, “us”) matches people based on compatibility before appearance. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
Information we collect
- Account details: email address and password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see or store your password in plain text.
- Profile basics: first name, date of birth, gender, and city/area.
- Questionnaire answers: lifestyle, interests, personality, relationship goals, and preferences you provide when completing your profile. Each answer is marked as either private (used only for matching) or shareable (shown to a match once you’re matched) — you control this per answer.
- Identity verification: before you can accept a match, we ask you to verify you’re a real person via Stripe Identity, which involves a government ID and a selfie. This is processed and stored by Stripe, not by us — we only receive and store a verification status (verified, pending, failed).
- Payment information: when you pay to confirm a specific date, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details — only a record of the transaction (amount, date, venue).
- Usage data: matches, date proposals, date feedback, and reports you file, so the app can function and so we can respond to safety concerns.
How we use it
To run the core product: matching you with compatible people, coordinating dates and venues, processing payments, verifying identity for safety, and responding to reports or abuse. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
What a match can see
Only the questionnaire answers you’ve explicitly marked as shareable, plus your first name and age, are ever shown to a match — and only once you’ve matched with them. No photo is shown at any point in the matching process. Your private answers, exact location, contact details, and identity verification status are never shared with other users.
Third parties
We use Stripe for payments and identity verification. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy. We use Supabase to host our database and authentication, and Vercel to host our website and app. Vercel also provides privacy-friendly usage analytics (page views and where visitors came from). These don’t use cookies and don’t identify you personally. We don’t share your data with any other third party.
Your rights and controls
- You can edit most of your profile and questionnaire answers at any time.
- You can permanently delete your account from within the app (Home → Delete account). This removes your profile, questionnaire answers, matches, date history, and payment records immediately and irreversibly. Records Stripe holds for payment or identity verification are retained per Stripe’s own policies and legal obligations, independent of us.
- You can block and report another user from their profile screen — this immediately removes them from your future matches.
Age requirement
You must be 18 or older to create an account. We enforce this at signup.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encrypted connections, access controls, and row-level database security) to protect your data. No service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and, where required, notify you in the app.
